How to Install an Ignition Coil on a 6.1L Engine on Dodge Challenger?

You should start by applying dielectric grease inside each of the spark plug boots for installation. Put the ignition coil into the valve cover after that and insert the spark plug boots onto each spark plug. Fasten in the two coil mounting screws and tighten them to 12 Nm or 106 in. lbs. After that, connect the electrical connector to the coil and make sure it stays in place. Then, connect the negative battery cable and fasten the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).

How to Service an Ignition Coil on Dodge Charger?

Remove the intake manifold first and then break the negative connection to the battery before you begin servicing the ignition coil. Spray compressed air into the space around both the ignition coil and the spark plug before taking them out. After that, pull the wire connector off the ignition coil and get rid of the two fasteners holding the assembly in place. For all versions, fasten the ignition coil assembly onto the spark plug and screw it down to 6.2 N.m (55 in. lbs.) for the 2.7L engine. First, reconnect the electrical wire and lock it in place, then attach the intake manifold and fix the negative cable from the battery.
