Dodge Nitro Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Washer Pump on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
First, isolate the battery negative cable before you take out the windshield washer pump. Remove the washer fluid from the washer reservoir on the left inside the cooling module and put it into a fresh container to reuse. Following this, unplug the front end module wire harness connector from the washer pump/motor unit connector receptacle on top of the motor housing. Remove each washer hose from where it connects to the two outlet nipples on the washer pump/motor unit. Take hold of the top of the pump/motor housing and gently pull it away from the washer reservoir so the top of the motor will slide out of the hook in the reservoir without harming it. Remove the washer pump/motor by pulling it straight up out of the washer's reservoir to separate the inlet nipple from the rubber grommet seal/filter in the reservoir. In the last step, pull out and throw away the rubber grommet seal/filter screen that is in the washer pump's mounting hole in the reservoir.
  • Q: How to Install a Washer Pump for Your Windshield on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
The first step is to put a new rubber grommet seal/filter screen unit into the washer pump's hole in the washer reservoir. Place the washer pump's inlet nipple on the bottom rubber grommet seal/filter screen and push the pump/motor unit down until the nipple fits completely. Place the washer pump/motor housing over the opening in the washer reservoir, line up the top and push down until the motor housing snaps in. Plug the barbed outlet nipples from both washer hoses into their respective locations on the washer pump/motor unit. Then replace the wire harness that connects the module to the motor hood interior. After connecting the negative Battery Cable, add the washer fluid you stored back into the reservoir.
