How to Service an Air Bag Control Module on 2003 Chrysler Sebring?

Before handling any air bag pieces, first detach and separate the battery negative remote cable, then let the system reserve capacitor discharge for two minutes. To remove the shifter knob and boot, open the hood on manual models and to remove the shift indicator, open the hood on automatic models. After that, remove the four screws holding the floor console, the parking brake lever and the three screws that secure the ORC. Split the connections at the wire harness and take out the ORC. When you fit the ORC, stop the battery, point the ORC end with the arrow towards the front of the car and attach the wire harness connector. Insert the three screws and tighten them to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.). Replace the parking brake lever, the floor console and fasten it place with the four screws. On automatic transmission vehicles, reinstall the shift lever and shift indicator bezel and for manual transmission, install the shifter boot and knob. The air bag system must be diagnosed and tested first, before the negative cable of the battery is connected to the remote terminal.
