2004 Dodge Durango Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Replace a Blower Motor Resistor on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you begin, deactivate the air bag system by separating the negative battery cable and then allow two minutes for the capacitor to drain in the system. After running the blower motor, keep it off for at least five minutes so the resistor block has time to cool. Captivius advises not to use the blower motor without putting the resistor block back, since it could harm your car. Unscrew the trim cover over the blower motor resistor block which is found just under the right side of the dash and lift it off. Remove the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor block and unscrew the two screws holding the resistor block to the front area of the HVAC system, so that you can pull out the resistor block. For setting up, insert the blower motor resistor block into the front part of your air conditioner and fasten it with two screws, but stop at 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) when tightening. Join the wire harness connector to the resistor block again, fit the trim cover and tighten it with two screws that are securely fastened at 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). In the end, connect the negative battery cable back to its location.
