2005 Dodge Durango Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Before service, disconnect the car battery's negative cable to block the air bag system, then let the air bag system's capacitor discharge for approximately two minutes. Give the blower motor resistors five minutes to cool if you have recently turned on your blower motor, as they can heat up. Never operate the blower motor with the resistor removed to stop your vehicle from being damaged. First, remove the negative battery cable, then get rid of the screws that hold down the trim under the blower motor resistor from the right side of the instrument panel and remove the cover. Then, remove the wire connector from the blower motor resistor and take out the two screws holding it onto the front HVAC housing and pull out the resistor too. When installing, fit the new blower motor resistor in the front HVAC housing and fasten it in place with the two screws, not tightening them more than 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Attach the wire harness connector to the blower motor resistor, put back the trim cover and tighten the two screws holding it to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Next, fasten the negative battery cable back to the car.
