2004 Jeep Liberty A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Discharge Hose on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before you change the A/C discharge hose/line, you must first disconnect and isolate the battery's negative terminal and remove the refrigerant from the system. Depending on your application, either disconnect the connector from the A/C pressure transducer or from the A/C high pressure switch. Remove the bolt or nut that holds the discharge line fitting to the compressor, then remove the fitting from the discharge port and toss away the seal. Make sure the opening in the discharge line fitting and compressor discharge port are plugged or taped up. After that, remove the nut attaching the discharge line fitting to the condenser's inlet port and pull off the fitting from the port. Take the discharge line from the car and throw away the O-ring seal. Once the 3.5L or 3.8L diesel engine is equpped, unhook the discharge line from the clip on the left of the engine. Set the discharge line into the engine compartment and install it to the retaining clip when present. Remove tape or any other material from the inlet port and the discharge line fitting and place a new lubricated O-ring seal onto the fitting using clean oil. Attach the fitting to the condenser inlet port and fasten it with the clamp, turning it until it reaches 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Take off any tape or plugs from the compressor discharge port and discharge line fitting, grease another new rubber O-ring seal and put it on the fitting. Slide the fitting onto the compressor's discharge port, add the bolt or nut and tighten it as firmly as possible up to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Reattach the wire harness connector to the A/C pressure transducer or A/C high pressure switch, re-connect the negative battery cable, remove all refrigerant and refill the refrigerant system afterward.
