  A: For vehicles with air bags, start by removing the negative battery cable and wait two minutes as the car's air bag system is discharging. Removal of the HVAC housing should be done first. Where necessary, remove the two screws holding the heater core inside the HVAC module. Gentle force the heater core retaining tabs backward to detach the heater core from the HVAC housing. Put the heater core into the HVAC housing and push down the top until it is locked by the retaining tabs. If you can, screw in the two screws that secure the heater core in the HVAC housing and torque them to 3.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), then set the HVAC housing securely in place.
