2005 Jeep Liberty A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an A/C Hose on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first thing to do for the A/C discharge line is to disconnect the battery negative cable and then recover the refrigerant from your system. Above all, remove the wire harness connector from the A/C pressure transducer or A/C high pressure switch, as required. Let go of the bolt or nut holding the discharge line fitting to the A/C compressor, loosen the discharge line from the compressor and throw away the O-ring seal. Apply tape or a plug over the opening in the discharge line fitting and over the compressor port. After that, take out the cap from the discharge line to the A/C condenser, separate the line from the condenser and throw away the O-ring seal in the middle of the opening, before plugging or taping the endings of the two fittings. Should the engine be a 2.8L diesel, release the discharge line by loosening the retaining clip on the engine's left side and pull out the line from the engine bay. During installation, return the A/C discharge line into the engine compartment, reattach it to the retaining clip if available and remove any tape or plugs from the condenser port and discharge line opening. To install a new rubber O-ring seal, cleanly fill it with R-134a system refrigerant oil, attach it to the fitting on the discharge line and only allow the specified O-rings and the right refrigerant oil for the compressor's A/C air conditioner system. Attach the discharge line to the A/C condenser after and then tighten the nut to 12 N.m (105 in.lbs.). Uncover the compressor port and discharge line fitting, grease them to protect the seals, install a fresh rubber O-ring ring seal onto the discharge line" and then plug the discharge line into the compressor. Hold the tension line firmly in place by adding a suitable bolt or nut and tighten to 28 N.m which is about 20 ft.lbs. Attach the wire harness connector to the A/C pressure transducer or A/C high pressure switch, reconnect the negative battery cable, remove all the refrigerant from the air conditioner and chage the refrigerant as needed.
