- Q: How to Safely Prepare for Servicing a Side Impact Air Bag on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?A: Be sure to read and follow all the stated warnings before performing any service. Take off the negative battery cable and let the system capacitor discharge for two minutes. Get rid of the ignition key as well as the door trim panel. Separate the side impact air bag squib harness connector from the side impact air bag gently, ensuring you don't tug on the wires or lift the connector insulator too roughly to harm the circuits inside the air bag. Drill out the fasteners for the side impact air bag, remove the air bag from the door and never put an air bag that has not been used face down on a hard surface. Be sure the negative battery cable is not connected and then give the system capacitor two minutes to discharge before starting the installation. Put the side impact air bag in the door and use only the right kind of rivets to fit the mounting rivets. Watch carefully as you connect the squib connector to the air bag circuit. After fitting the ignition lock and the door panel, make sure not to link the negative cable to the battery.
