2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Clock Spring Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Align the Clock Spring Assembly on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To make sure the Clock Spring is correctly inserted, move any front wheels or the steering wheel back into place if you have disturbed them during the rebuilding. Unhook the negative cable of the battery under the hood so the reserve capacitor for the air bag has time to clear itself. After that, take out the Clock Spring and use your hand to rotate the Clock Spring rotor in a clockwise direction until you feel it stop lightly by itself. Start from this point, turn the rotor three whole times counterclockwise, making sure the horn wire and squib wire go to the bottom; if they are not, adjust the rotor counterclockwise one quarter turn or less to place the wires correctly. Turn on the Clock Spring lock and secure it in place as you use the same instructions to remove it. Always carry out a test on the car after installing the negative battery cable, just to be sure. After finishing the work, check that both the car and its systems are working properly.
