2005 Dodge Dakota Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor which is near the rear of the generator in the front water jacket of the intake manifold, drain the cooling system to keep hot, pressurized coolant away from you. After that, separate the electrical connector from the sensor and take out the sensor from the intake manifold. Usually, first put thread sealant on the sensor threads, then fit the engine coolant sensor into the intake manifold and ensure it is tightened with 11 Nm (97.3 inch lbs.). After that, connect the electrical plug back and make sure the cooling system is full.
