2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Remove the refrigerant from the refrigerant system and separate the negative battery cable to work on the A/C discharge line. Get rid of the grille, air cleaner housing, air intake tube and resonator. Then, unfasten the nut holding the A/C discharge line to the compressor, unhook the line and throw away the dual plane seal. After that, take out the nut connecting the A/C discharge line to the condenser, detach the line and throw out the dual plane seal. Before taking the A/C discharge line out of the engine compartment, plug or tape over the open fittings on the compressor, condenser and discharge line. After moving the A/C discharge line into the engine compartment, take the tape or plugs out of both the discharge line fittings and the A/C compressor and A/C condenser. Use clean oil from the R-134a system, lubricate the new dual plane seals and put them onto the A/C discharge line. Fit the A/C discharge line onto the A/C compressor and hold it in place using the nut, turning it 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.). After that, affix the A/C discharge line to the A/C condenser, second install the air cleaner housing, the air intake tube and the resonator and, following precisely, the grille. Refit the negative battery cable, remove the refrigerant from the system and charge it back up.
