2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service a Blower Motor on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: On vehicles with air bags, first remove the negative battery cable and let the air bag system capacitor discharge for two minutes. First, take out the instrument panel silencer on the passenger side and afterward take out the glove box. If the system uses a blower motor resistor, take out the wire harness connector from the resistor. For a different configuration, leave the connector in place and connect it to the blower motor power module instead. Release the three screws (3) joining the blower motor (4) to the HVAC housing (5), then remove the blower motor. Install the blower motor (4) into the HVAC housing (5), hold it in place with the three screws (3) and tighten them to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.). Attach the wire from the harness connector to the blower power module or resistor, fit the glove box and put in the instrument panel silencer. After replacing the battery, hook the negative (black) battery cable.
