2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before working on the A/C discharge line, drain the refrigerant from the unit and unplug the negative side of the battery. Take apart the grille, air cleaner housing, air intake tube and resonator. After that, unscrew the nut connecting the A/C discharge line to the compressor, break the line away and discard the seal. After that, loosen the nut holding the A/C discharge line to the A/C condenser, separate the line and throw away the dual plane seal. Place plugs or tape over the end of the discharge line fitting and both the compressor and condenser ports before you remove the A/C line from the engine area. During installation, bring the A/C discharge line into the engine area and take off any tape or plugs from its fittings as well as the compressor and condenser. Apply clean refrigerant oil to your new dual plane seals and ensure you attach them to the A/C discharge line using the seals meant for R - 134a systems and the advised oil for the compressor. Insert the A/C discharge line into the A/C compressor and tighten it with the nut to 20 N.m or 15 ft. lbs. Now, perform the same steps with the A/C condenser, putting the nut on until it tightens 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.). After you have installed everything inside the ducts, replace the housing, air intake tube, resonator and grille. Connect the negative battery cable, remove all refrigerant and then add the required refrigerant.
