2005 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Correctly Service an Air Bag Sensor on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before you service the front impact sensor, first stop the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the battery negative cable for two minutes so there is no risk of injury or death. Do not strike or drop the front impact sensor or it could be damaged or have its settings changed; should you do so, the sensor would have to be exchanged. Pull the screw out of the front impact sensor, then work the headlight and dash harness connector out of the sensor. Knowingly, get rid of the sensor from the engine compartment. Install the sensor underneath the engine hood, connect the headlamp and dash wire cables to it and place the anti-rotation pin located in the back of the sensor in the lower hole on the radiator support. For proper secureness, place the sensor and tighten its screw to 7 N.m (65 in.lbs.). Wait until the supplemental restraint system verification test is done before reattaching the battery negative cable after working on the system.
