2005 Jeep Liberty Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Evaporator Core on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before handling the A/C evaporator core, you must first remove the outside housing and dismantle it as much as needed to get at the A/C evaporator. Gently remove the evaporator and the insulator within the foam from the bottom part of the HVAC housing. When needed, lift the foam and the rubber grommet away from the A/C evaporator to check and change any insulator that has been damaged or isn't in the right shape. When placing a new evaporator, always include 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of proper refrigerant oil in the closed refrigerant system. If the foam was gone, then mount a new, good foam insulator over the A/C evaporator. After that, position the evaporator in the HVAC housing below the air conditioning unit, make sure the drain of the evaporator is clean and clear and arrange the foam insulator and rubber grommet. As the last step, put together and install the housing for the HVAC system.
