2005 Jeep Liberty Blower Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service the Blower Motor with the Airbag System Disabled on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Start by turning off the air bag system on air bag-equipped vehicles by cutting off the battery negative wire, then wait for two minutes so the capacitor releases energy fully before handling the blower motor. The blower motor can be removed from the passenger side underneath the instrument panel, without having to remove the panel or HVAC housing. First, remove the negative cable from the battery and then take out the wire connector from the blower motor. Twist the tab that holds the blower motor to the HVAC casing counterclockwise to free it. Rotate and tilt the blower motor as you need to to remove the HVAC housing. During installation, place the blower motor inside the HVAC housing and ensure that all of the parts are locked securely so no air leaks happen. Attach the wire harness connector to the blower motor, fasten the negative battery cable, set the blower to full speed and check the HVAC housing and blower motor for leaks around their edges; if leaks are spotted, unscrew the blower and install it again.
