2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: For servicing or repairing the A/C accumulator, release the refrigerant first and then break the connection between the battery and its negative terminal. Take out the grille, air cleaner housing and air inlet tube. Later, undo the nut that holds the A/C liquid line to the A/C accumulator, cut the A/C liquid line away and throw away the dual-plane seal. After that, loosen the screw holding the A/C accumulator to the radiator and the fan shroud, take off the nut that holds it on the A/C condenser and remove the A/C accumulator from the A/C condenser. Next, remove the dual-plane seal. Place plugs or tape over the openings for your A/C accumulator fitting, port and also the condenser port. Should you need to change the A/C accumulator, add 30 milliliters of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system with only the oil type the compressor manufacturer suggests. Set the A/C accumulator inside the vehicle's compartment, remove any attachments, lubricate a brand new dual-plane seal with clean refrigerant oil and fit it onto the A/C accumulator fitting as directed with the unique seal meant for R-134a systems. At the right-hand end of the A/C condenser, join the A/C accumulator and tighten its nut to 20 N.m. Mount the A/C accumulator to the radiator and fan shroud with a screw and keep the new thread tight. Reattach the negative battery cable, have the refrigerant removed and add the refrigerant once again.
