2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Begin the blower motor resistor process by turning off the air bag system by removing and isolating the negative battery cable while you wait two minutes for air bag capacitor discharge. Let the blower motor resistor rest for five minutes if you've recently used the blower motor, as it often gets very hot when operating. Always make sure you keep the resistor in place when starting the blower motor to protect your vehicle. Unplug the negative battery cable first and afterward take out the glove box from the instrument panel. Open the locking tab on the wire harness connector and pull out the connection to the blower motor resistor. Take out two screws from the blower motor resistor and remove the resistor. To install, fix the blower motor resistor inside the HVAC unit with the two screws tightened to a torque of 17 in. lbs (2 N.m ). Attach the wire harness connector onto the blower motor resistor once more and secure it with the locking tab. After that, install the glove box and plug the negative battery terminal back in.
