2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: On cars with air bags, the first step to maintenance on the blower motor resistor is to turn off the air bag system by removing the negative battery cable and disconnecting it for at least two minutes. If you previously turned on the blower motor, let the blower motor resistor cool for five minutes because it might get extremely hot during use. Do not drive the vehicle with the blower motor going if the resistor has been removed to avoid problems. Remove the cable attached to the negative terminal of the battery, then take the glove box from the instrument panel. As you disconnect the connector from the blower motor resistor, turn the wire harness connector locking tab to release it from the board. Open the HVAC housing by unscrewing the two blower motor resistor screws and then remove the resistor. For installing the blower motor resistor, insert it into the HVAC housing, put the two screws in and tighten them to a torque of 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Plug back in the wire harness connector to the blower motor resistor, press the locking tab to hold it in place and then put the glove box into position and reconnect the negative battery cable.
