2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair a Wiper Switch on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You must initially turn off the air bags on such cars because handling the wiper switch when air bags are enabled may be unsafe. Turn off the car, then remove the battery negative cable and wait 2 minutes so the capacitor discharges. Removal should start by taking out the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column. After that, unscrew the two screws on the right multi-function switch which are set in the right side's locating tabs on the Steering Control Module (SCM). Straight away disconnect the switch from inside the SCM by pulling it away, then remove the switch. For installation, put the right multi-function switch to the back of the SCM and link it with the connector hooked up on the switch's back. Position the location tabs on the SCM with the switch housing and secure the switch to the SCM by tightening the two screws to a torque of 0.35 N.m (3 in. lbs.). Afterward, set the upper and lower shrouds onto the steering column and attach the battery negative cable again.
