2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Always disable the supplemental restraint system on cars with air bags, as the combination switch could cause death or serious injury if you don't do so. Erase negative cable from the battery and wait about two minutes for the capacitor's charge to discharge. open The first step is to remove the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column. Take out the two screws that are holding the left multifunction switch (1) on to its locating tabs (3) on the Steering Control Module (SCM) (2) next. Pull the switch at the back of the SCM to detach it and then remove it. As part of your installation, adhere the left dashboard switch (1) to the back part of the SCM (2) and attach the pigtail cable. Set the SCM locating tabs (3) so they fit in the switch housing and use the supplied screws to attach the switch and tighten each to 0.35 N.m (3 in. lbs.). Next, put the upper and lower shrouds back on the steering column and link the battery negative cable once more.
