  A: The first step is to disconnect and remove the battery negative cable from the post, before you lock the automatic adjuster and raise the vehicle. Sometimes, you must unscrew the parking brake shoe to allow enough excess cable for the buttons to detach from the connectors. Slide the left rear cable button to the right and take it out of the equalizer. Use pliers at the front cable button (5) to hold the connector and push in the right rear cable button (4) so it slides and disconnects from its connector. Once you've detached the equalizer from the front cable housing, pull out and set aside the cable guide screw that holds the front parking brake cable to the rail near the left side of the body. Park the vehicle low enough so that when you roll it off the hoist, the left side doors become accessible. After that, get rid of the left front and left rear sill scuff plates, the weather strips from both doors and the lower cowl trim.
