2007 Chrysler Pacifica Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Service a Parking Brake Cable on 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first step is to disconnect and remove the battery negative cable from the post, before you lock the automatic adjuster and raise the vehicle. Sometimes, you must unscrew the parking brake shoe to allow enough excess cable for the buttons to detach from the connectors. Slide the left rear cable button to the right and take it out of the equalizer. Use pliers at the front cable button (5) to hold the connector and push in the right rear cable button (4) so it slides and disconnects from its connector. Once you've detached the equalizer from the front cable housing, pull out and set aside the cable guide screw that holds the front parking brake cable to the rail near the left side of the body. Park the vehicle low enough so that when you roll it off the hoist, the left side doors become accessible. After that, get rid of the left front and left rear sill scuff plates, the weather strips from both doors and the lower cowl trim. Take off the seat belt belt anchor bolt at the B-pillar and the left B-pillar trim panel. Disconnect the front cable routing clips (3) on the studs under the left side carpet, free the floor pan grommet (1) and bring the front cable (2) up into the passenger compartment. Loosen the release rod from the parking brake lever and detach the wiring connector (1) at the parking brake indicator light switch (2). Take the body control module out, then take off the bracket's mounting nuts and routing clips. Remove the parking brake lever (4), along with the two bolts and one nut, from the cowl (1) and put it on the driver's floor, again paying attention to how the cable is routed. Separate the cable button mounted on the lever from the front side of the take-up reel. Remove the cable from the lever cam and push the whole cable down into the housing so the button is touching. Collapse the cable retainer on the cable housing by turning the 13 mm 12-point box wrench (2) over its fingers, then pull the front cable away from the parking brake lever (3) before taking it off.
