2006 Chrysler Pacifica Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on the Right Rear on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: You should first disable the automatic adjuster and raise the vehicle for service and repair of the right rear parking brake cable. sometimes, backing off the parking brake shoe adjustment allows adequate space for disconnecting the cable buttons from the connectors. Push the button on the left rear cable inside the car and bring it out from the equalizer. Secure the front cable's connector end with pliers as you slide the button from the right rear cable out of its connector. Take off the rear hub and bearing and remove the bolt of the parking brake cable on the knuckle. After that, lift up the parking brake shoes and separate the shoe actuator from the cable's end at the support. Take the cable out of the support plate and knuckle by hand and then collapse the fingers on the cable housing with a 13 mm 12-point box wrench at the crossmember before removing the cable. Slide the leading end of the parking brake cable into the hole in the crossmember's flange and click the cable retainer into position. Push the opposite end of the cable into the knuckle and shoe support and position the shoe actuator in the parking brake cable, so the word "UP" faces toward the outside. Attach the parking brake shoes to the support and attach the ends of the cable to the knuckle with a bolt turned to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) torque. Attach the hub, bearing and wheel speed sensor to the car along with all important components. After grabbing the front cable connector end with pliers, fit the right rear cable button into position and press it into place with your fingers. To match the left parking brake cable button into the equalizer and release it to sit properly. In the end, drop the vehicle, unlock the parking brake lever's automatic adjuster and adjust or slide the parking brake shoes according to their state.
