2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder with ABS on a Left-Hand Drive on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before starting the replacement, make sure the vacuum in the power brake booster is pumped down by pumping the brake pedal 4-5 times until you notice a firm brake pedal, with the engine off in a left-hand drive car. Should it be required, unhook the cover of the air cleaner and move it out of the way to find the negative battery terminal. Pull the air cleaner housing straight off and disconnect the negative cable from the battery before putting it aside. Undo the band holding the power distribution center in place, raise it and take it aside. Take out the wiring harness connector from the brake fluid level switch in the master cylinder reservoir. Compatible brake plugs should be inserted at each of the openings previously covered by brake tubes and the brake tubes at the master cylinder should be disconnected at both lengths. If your vehicle uses a manual transaxle, take off the clamp and the clutch actuator hose from its reservoir port. Spray brake cleaner on the area around the attachment of the master cylinder to the power brake booster and clean it up. After that, unscrew the two nuts holding the master cylinder to the power brake booster and slide it straight off.
