2007 Jeep Commander Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Repair a Heater Core on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Before you begin, pull out and isolate the negative battery cable and drain off the engine cooling system. If critical, detach the heater hoses from the tubes on the heater core that are in the engine compartment. Next, take out the panel from the dashboard and undo the five screws attaching the heater core and tube cover to the HVAC housing. Take out the heater core and cover the tube from the HVAC housing. If dual zone heating-A/C is installed, remove the actuator that controls the air from the passenger door-side inside of the housing. Work at the side panel and use a screwdriver to take out the screw that links the heater core tubes and the bracket to the HVAC housing. Place absorbing towels near the engine so you can treat any engine coolant spills right away. Loosen the bolt that holds the heater tubes in place and disconnect the tubes from the heater core, afterward throwing away the O-ring seals. Place plugs in or tape over where the heater ports are and slowly remove the heater core from the HVAC air box. If the job requires it, take out the heater core tubes from the vehicle.
