2007 Jeep Commander A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is an A/C Expansion Valve Installed in a Cooling System on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Make sure the refrigerant oil level is correct before fitting the expansion valve, to keep the A/C system proper and to safeguard the compressor. The Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart can show you the right amount of oil when replacing several A/C components. Substitute the line O-ring seals and gaskets whenever you need to open a refrigerant line. Begin by emptying all of the tape and plugs from the underbody refrigerant line, rear evaporator tube fitting, as well as all the rear expansion valve ports. Cleanly apply R-134a recommended refrigerant oil to new rubber O-ring seals and put them in place on the rear evaporator tube fittings. Attach the rear A/C expansion valve to the evaporator tube's tapping block with two bolts tightened to 11 Nm. Apply refrigerant oil to the new underbody rubber rings and slide them over the fittings at the rear of the vehicle, using only the suggested O-rings and oil. Plug the underbody refrigerant lines into the rear A/C expansion valve and tighten the nut to 23 Nm. Push the rear heater hoses onto the rear heater core tubes and fasten the heater hose clamps. Reduce the height of the vehicle, reconnect its negative battery cable, top off the engine's cooling system, remove leftover refrigerant, add refrigerant oil till the correct level and fill the refrigerant system.
