2007 Jeep Wrangler A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How Does an A/C Accumulator Ensure Proper Operation and Prevent Damage in the Refrigerant System on 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before using the A/C system with refill, you must adjust the oil level to keep the compressor from being damaged. Should the A/C compressor fail inside, the A/C accumulator should be replaced, so the new compressor doesn't get damaged. Make sure to look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart before changing several compressor components so you add the correct oil amount. When only the A/C accumulator is changed, fill in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil from the bottle. Make sure to change the o-ring seals and gaskets on the refrigerant line whenever you open it, to stop leaks. To start, get rid of the tape and any plugs around the accumulator fittings and condenser ports. Before you put on O-ring seals, cover them with clean refrigerant oil and install them on the accumulator fittings, making sure to use the proper O-rings for R-134a. Attach the accumulator to the A/C condenser's right end, using the bolt and tightening to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.) When the grille is mounted, reattach the negative battery wire, evacuate the refrigerant system, add about a fluid ounce of refrigerant oil and charge the system with refrigerant.
