2007 Jeep Wrangler A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an A/C Condenser to Prevent Compressor Damage on 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
A: When working on the A/C refrigerant system, you should adjust the oil to help prevent harm to the compressor. You need to replace the A/C receiver/drier if there's an internal failure of the compressor to avoid causing serious harm to the new compressor. Because you are changing many parts, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart first to discover the oil amount you need to add. When you're replacing the A/C condenser, add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of the recommended refrigerant oil. It is important to change the O-ring seals and gaskets on the refrigerant line, any time one of them is opened to reduce the risk of leaks. Proper installation of the radiator and condenser air seals is necessary for the A/C and engine to cool properly. Install the A/C receiver/drier (7) first on the right side of the A/C condenser (1). On automatic transmission vehicles, put the transmission cooler line adapter (5) onto the bottom of the automatic transmission fluid cooler (6), secure with bolt (4) and fit new O-rings. When working on a manual transmission vehicle, first push the top of the radiator back to create space for the condenser. After, fit the A/C condenser in the engine compartment, put back the radiator with its two bolts securing it to the upper radiator support and finish the job. With an automatic transmission car, set the A/C condenser in front of the radiator on the workbench and secure it with bolts through the five locations (3) shown. Assemble by tightening the bolts to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Reconnect the assembly of the radiator, A/C condenser, upper radiator closure and grille. Get rid of old tape or plugs at the refrigerant line and condenser ports, put oil-filled O-ring seals in place on the new gaskets and assemble them onto the refrigerant line fittings using only the proper type. Attach the A/C discharge line (2) and A/C liquid line (4) to the left side of the A/C condenser (1) and tighten them together with retaining nuts (3 and 5) to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). If you have a 2.8L model, attach the air intake hose to the throttle body, fit the coolant recovery container and reattach the negative battery cable. Empty the refrigerant tank and if changing the A/C condenser, add 2 fluid ounces of the right type of refrigerant oil. Remember to add the refrigerant to the system and check the transmission fluid, refilling if the car is automatic.
