2008 Jeep Wrangler Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Evaporator Core on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before servicing or repairing the evaporator, first unhook and place the negative battery cable far from the battery, then wait two minutes for the air bag capacitor to discharge. This helps assure that air bags do not go off by accident which could result in anyone getting hurt or killed. First, take off the HVAC housing assembly and put it on a workbench. After that, disconnect the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing. Take out the A/C expansion valve from the A/C evaporator and check if the foam seal for the flange needs replacement if it is damaged. Take the foam seal from the flange on top of the HVAC housing, then remove the four screws holding the flange to the HVAC housing and remove the flange. Next, take out the air conditioner's evaporator and insulator from the HVAC housing and change the foam insulator if it looks damaged or deformed.
