2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Center a Clock Spring on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Get the Clock Spring in the middle by aligning the wheels, open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable, giving the reserve capacitor two minutes to let off its batteries to ensure the air bags don't accidentally deploy when you open the door. Take out the steering wheel and notice that the Clock Spring can stay, as the rotor moves easily once the wheel is out. Twist the rotor clockwise to its limit, but don't use too much force, then rotate counterclockwise more than 180 degrees until the connector and squib wire come to the twelve o'clock marker and after that go another 360 degrees clockwise to fit and hold the rotor in place. Reinstall the steering wheel and the driver air bag and do not connect the battery negative cable until all safety tests are done; otherwise, you could sustain serious or fatal injuries.
