A single zone system requires servicing just the one blend door actuator, but a dual zone system requires two, one each for the driver's and passenger's sides, with the same service steps. Prior to handling components near the
Steering Wheel, steering column or instrument panel that may affect air bag deployment, the air bag system should be disabled by disconnecting the battery cable and waiting two minutes for all charge to pass before shipping or lifting the vehicle. Start by unplugging the black battery cable and then pull the silencer from its spot near where the instrument panel attaches at the driver's end. After that, remove the three screws holding the heater core shield onto the left of the HVAC distribution housing and pull the shield backward to unlock the two location tabs. Take the heater core shield off the distribution housing, disconnect the wire harness from the blend door actuator and remove the two screws holding the actuator to the housing to remove it. Start by setting the new blend door actuator onto the front of the heater/air conditioner, making sure the splines on the actuator match up with the linkage of the blend air door, if it is necessary. Use the screws to secure the actuator, tighten each to 2 Nm and then join the HVAC wire harness again. Set the heater core shield securely onto the distribution housing, so the tabs fit right and attach the three screws, tightening them to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Install the silencer below the driver side part of the instrument panel, attach the negative battery cable and repeat the heater-A/C control calibration process.
