How to Service a Heater Core on Dodge Charger?

First, turn off the air bag system by detaching and covering the negative battery cable and then wait two minutes for the capacitor to drain. People should not reposition, loosen or remove heater core tubes, as it could cause coolant to leak. The first thing to do is remove the HVAC housing assembly (9) and keep it on a proper platform. On LHD models, take off the driver side actuator (1) from the HVAC air distribution housing (2). Later, take off the two screws (8) securing the flange (7) at the HVAC front near the dash and then remove the flange. After that, unscrew the screw (5) that holds the heater core retaining bracket (3) to the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing and take off the bracket. Afterward, disconnect the heater core tubes (6) from the HVAC housing and then straighten out the heater core (4) from the air distribution housing.

How is the Heater Core Installed on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before installing the heater core, check the foam around it and change them out if any are damaged or malformed. Make sure to insert the heater core into the front area of the HVAC housing carefully. Set the flange on the front of the HVAC unit, so its retaining tab fits inside. Fasten the flange onto the HVAC housing by using two screws and tighten them down to 1.1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). After that, attach the foam seal to the flange. Should the heater core be changed, be sure to flush the whole cooling system. The final job is to install the HVAC housing.
