- Q: How to Remove a Liftgate Hinge on Dodge Charger?A:To take out the trunk or liftgate hinge, first lift the deck lid and set a suitable object underneath it. After that, remove the support cylinder from the deck lid hinge. Identify where the upper hinge bracket pointed on the deck lid inner panel, as you'll need this for installation. Afterward, take out the two screws holding the hinge onto the deck lid. Equally, note and mark where the lower hinge bracket will sit on the deck lid's opening drain trough. After that, take out the three screws that hold the hinge to the drain trough and remove the deck lid hinge.
- Q: How to Service a Liftgate Hinge Without Removing the Liftgate on Dodge Durango?A:It is not required to take off the liftgate to fix the hinges because they can be swapped out one by one. Removing or moving hinges should be done after applying a suitable sealant to the hinge body. Use a suitable device to raise the liftgate for your safety. Lift off the headliner trim at the back using tool C-4755 or an equivalent instrument. With a grease pencil or its equivalent, show the place where the hinge should be put. Remove the liftgate bolts (2) and the body bolt (1) before you can remove the hinge. Should you find it necessary, first do a coat of paint on the new hinge before fitting it. Set the new hinge in place (2) and connect it with the body bolt (1), making sure to tighten to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). After that, place and secure the liftgate bolt (2) to the specified torque of 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Next, adjust the liftgate, if needed and settle the upper rear headliner trim into place.
