Before removing and replacing the timing belt, position the crankshaft sprocket at TDC, with the arrow on the oil pump lined up. Set both camshaft timing marks so that the exhaust camshaft sprocket goes down a 1/2 notch compared to the intake camshaft. Start by installing the timing belt onto the crankshaft, steering it over the water pump sprocket, the idler pulley, the camshaft sprockets and finally around the tensioner. Relocate the exhaust camshaft sprocket in the opposite direction so that the marks are matched up with those on the main sprocket, allowing for belt slack. Insert an Allen wrench into the top plate of the belt tensioner on the hexagon opening and spin it counterclockwise until the notch at the tensioner setting is next to the spring tang. Next, torque the tensioner lock bolt with 25 Nm (220 in. lbs.) of force. When you have taken off the tools, turn the crankshaft two complete times clockwise to set the belt and move it back to TDC, ensuring the timing marks are lined up properly. Test if the spring tang is within limits; if it's not, go through the tension adjustment process once more. Afterward, install the engine mount bracket, timing belt front covers and bolts, air conditioning/generator belt tensioner and pulley, right engine mount, crankshaft vibration damper, accessory drive belts, drive belt splash shield, right front wheel, connect the make-up air hose to the cylinder head cover and put in the air cleaner housing, upper cover and clean air tube.
