Specifically, Washer Reservoir is a critical component that defines the Jeep vehicles' dependability and power, especially when it comes to the line of the commanders. Keeping its intended purpose in mind, Washer Reservoir is a component that carries windshield washer fluid, which serves as a critical asset to drivers in providing them with clear visibility; consequently, it increases efficiency and safety on the road. Made of hard plastic material, Washer Reservoir is located inside the engine compartment though different Commander models may have different positions of the component. This makes it possible for it to suit different Jeep Commander models such as the XK and the 2022 Meridian. Special care must be taken to rotate the Washer Reservoir as it is made of plastic and gets very brittle whenever the fluid is low. This goes a long way in showing that any Washer Reservoir needs to be in the optimal condition possible to avoid problems that might endanger the safety of driving. Most notably the customers in the automotive market are benefitted from Washer Reservoir because of its aggressive structure and its basic functions satisfying the automobile Jeeps related customers. This makes it easy to control the windshield through the washer reservoir, which in turn contributes to safety on the roads hence increasing the reliability of Jeep brand's commander range Jeeps.

Jeep Commander Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Washer Reservoir on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Before getting rid of the reservoir, first remove and separate the negative Battery Cable. Turn the steering wheel to place the front wheels all the way to the left. Hold the filler cap in your hand, pull the cap backwards and unsnap it from the hook behind the filler neck. Take out the blind rivet that joins the washer reservoir filler neck to the upper Radiator Support. Lift up the car and remove the plastic clips that hold the left front Wheelhouse shield to the fender and to the front fascia plate. Open the splash shield by lifting the forward end from the inner fender panel and front fascia to get to the washer reservoir. Unplug the connectors from the washer fluid level switch, the Washer Pump/motor and if you have them, the headlamp washer pump/motor. Remember where the hoses are connected to the washer pump before you take them off. Take the front and rear washer hoses off the washer pump's barbed nipples, so the washer fluid drains into a container that can be used again. If you have a washer for the headlamp, break away the quick connect hose from the reservoir elbow fitting. Undo the screws on the side of the washer reservoir and remove the tab in the front of the reservoir from the front frame rail slot. After that, lower the washer reservoir out of the car, spinning it if you need to clear the way.
  • Q: How to Maintain a Washer Reservoir on Jeep Commander?
    A:
The first step is to disconnect the negative Battery Cable and fully turn the Steering Wheel to the left before service work. Open the cap at the base of the reservoir, above the gas tank and then pull it off the hook. Bring a blind rivet out by loosening fastener 1 which mounts the washer reservoir filler neck to the upper Radiator Support. Next, jack up and support the car. Withdraw the push-in fasteners at the left front Wheelhouse splash shield's front edge, pull the shield forward and locate the washer reservoir 1 underneath. Detach the wiring from the washer fluid level switch 3 and the Washer Pump/motor 4 by removing the headlamp and dash wire harness connectors 2 and remember the position of the washer hoses. Loosen and pull the water hoses from the pump nipples in both the front and rear of the vehicle, then let the fluid drain into a clean container for later. Disconnect the two screws 2 holding the washer reservoir 1 to the left front frame rail, pull the front hook out from its slot and gently slide the unit backward out of the vehicle by rotating it. For installation, lift the washer reservoir 1 up into the left front fender wheel house beneath the car while turning it so it fits. Once right, attach the hook tab at the front of the reservoir to the hole in the left front frame rail. After installing the two screws 2, use torque to secure the washer reservoir to the left front frame rail at 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) to make sure the front and rear washer hoses are attached to the right outlet nipples of the washer pump. Reattach the headlamp and dash wire harness for washer pump/motor unit 4 and washer fluid level switch 3. Then, push back the plastic fasteners you removed from the left front wheelhouse splash shield, lower the vehicle and install another blind rivet in the upper radiator crossmember to fasten the washer reservoir filler neck mounting bracket. Fasten the wash tank filler cap hinge to the hook on the filler neck, add the already drained washer fluid into the tank and reattach the negative battery cable.
