Should anything in the Occupant Classification System (OCS) on the passenger side front seat cushion need to be replaced, it must be handled as a whole unit with the frame, springs, pad, seat weight bladder, pressure sensor, foam, wiring and a calibrated Occupant Classification Module (OCM). Replace the entire set of components together, instead of trying to take out and reuse any individual items. Should any factory-installed parts, apart from the OCM, be changed, the OCM can only be serviced by swapping out the entire passenger side front seat cushion unit for a new replacement set. Any time one of these components is changed, OCM should be re-calibrated with a diagnostic scan tool, a special Occupant Classification Seat Weight tool and perform the Occupant Classification System Verification Test. Disable the air bags before working on related parts by turning off the main car battery and waiting two minutes so the capacitor in the air bag system discharges. You should replace all components in the assembly; only the OCM and seat cushion trim may be serviced separately. No changes to the front passenger seat or the center floor console are allowed and you must always use Mopar(R) parts listed in the catalog. The ACM and OCM must not be replaced at the same time, because a fault in one may be transferred to the other. Throw away the entire passenger side front seat cushion frame, springs, pad, bladder and pressure sensor, foam, wiring and OCM and add the items from the service replacement package instead. Attach the passenger side front seat trim cover to the seat cushion and next, reinstall the cushion assembly and seat to your vehicle. Replacement of the battery negative cable should not be attempted until the supplementary restraint system has been correctly verified and the scan tool and special tool are used to test the seats and confirm the system is working correctly.
