How to Remove the Washer Reservoir for an Optional Diesel Engine on Jeep Wrangler?

If you want to remove the windshield washer reservoir connected to the optional diesel engine, first cut off and isolate the negative battery cable. Pull the liquid from the reservoir (3) into an empty and clean container for later use. Take out the wire harness connector from the engine compartment and plug it into the washer pump or motor (5). Before you remove the hoses, remember the position they are attached to help during installation. Detach the front and rear washer hoses (6) from the washer pump which you'll find on the outboard side of the reservoir. Remove the screw (2) that holds the tab from the top of the reservoir to the metal U-nut (8) inside the top of the radiator fan shroud (1). Take the washer reservoir up far enough that the front T-tab (4) and the two tabs underneath (7) can be moved out of their slots found in the shroud. After cleaning the washer reservoir, remove it from under the hood.

How to Install a Washer Reservoir on Jeep Wrangler?

Before adding the windshield washer reservoir to cars with optional diesel engines, be sure that U-nut 8 is securely and tightly threaded into the radiator fan shroud 1. Place washer reservoir 3 in the left front area of the engine compartment and align the T-tab 4 on its front with the two tabs 7 at its base as they go into their slots in the shroud. Put the fitting provided with the shroud on the integral mounting tab, then fix the assembly by tightening screw 2 to 9 Nm (79 in. lbs.). You need to connect the front and rear washer hoses to the appropriate outlet nipples from the washer pump to have the washer systems operate properly. Join the front and rear washer hoses 6 to the washer pump on the outboard section of the reservoir and then tie the washer pump/motor's engine compartment wire harness connector 5 to the corresponding wire harness. Pour more washer fluid into the reservoir which you had drained out earlier and then attach the negative battery cable.
