  • Q: How to Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
    A: First you need to remove the refrigerant from the system and then take off the vehicle's front fascia. Afterwards, remove the four radiator sight shield retaining pins and the shield and also take out the radiator air seal retaining pins and the seals, marking where you remove each so you can put them back properly. Make a mark for the hood latch on the upper radiator crossmember, then remove both bolts and place the hood latch out of the way. Take out the bolts holding the fluid cooler to the A/C condenser, then put the cooler to one side. Remove the nuts that secure the discharge and liquid lines to the A/C condenser, take out the O-ring seals and gaskets and disconnect these lines. Place tape or a plug over the openings in the refrigerant lines and condenser, loosen the two bolts securing the A/C condenser to the radiator, lift the condenser and remove one by one the lower brackets before moving it from the engine. Should you swap the A/C condenser, you should first add 30 milliliters of refrigerant oil to the A/C system, although be sure to use the type recommended for the system's compressor. Next, each radiator and condenser air seal should be put in their respective places, the A/C condenser laid back into the engine compartment, the lower corners bracketed to the radiator by fastening with two bolts of 5 N.m and any seal tape be taken off or removed from the refrigerant lines. Then, clean refrigerant oil should be applied to a new rubber O-ring seal and installed together with a fresh gasket onto the refrigerant line fitting. Relocate the hood latch to the upper radiator crossmember in front, install and loosen the two bolts, position the latch as needed and tighten them to 14 N.m.
