2006 Chrysler Pacifica Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Heater Core on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing the heater core, isolate and remove the negative cable from the battery to disable the air bag system. After that, wait for about two minutes to allow the air bag system capacitor to discharge. First, push the lower steering shaft aside by popping the fasteners around its base on the dash panel and remove the brake lamp switch from its bracket. Next, separate the power brake booster input rod from the pin on the brake pedal arm, being careful to cover the carpet beneath the heater core with towels to prevent the engine coolant from staining it. After that, pull out the heater core tubes and remove the two screws holding the heater core mounting plate to the HVAC air distribution housing. As you press up on the accelerator and down on the brake to get some space, extract the heater core from inside the air distribution housing. Install the heater core into its housing, then maintain the pedal positions for clearance, fasten it with two screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.), fit the five heater core tubes and reconnect the input rod from the power brake booster to the brake pedal arm. Guide the brake lamp switch down into its mounting bracket, fit the silencer boot around the lower steering shaft shaft and attach the negative battery cable. If the heater core is being changed, clean out the engine cooling system and then refill it.
