To deal with the A/C suction line, first remove the negative cable from the battery and drain the refrigerant from it. In order to access the rear section of the suction line (9), first take out the wire lead and connector from the A/C low pressure switch (2). Then remove the switch out of the A/C accumulator (10). Take out the two nuts (7) holding the accumulator bracket (8) to the dash panel (5). When changing an LHD model, remove the secondary retaining clip from the tube of the spring lock and use the right tool to disconnect the A/C suction line rear section form the outlet of the evaporator. With the RHD car, take off the nut from the rear of the suction line, joined to the A/C evaporator and remove the line. Following this, take out the nut (1) at the A/C suction line connection to the accumulator and loosen the line, then throw out the O-rings and cover the open ends of these fittings with either tape or plugs. Take off the nut (1) that holds the front section of the suction line (11) to the accumulator (10), then detach the line and throw away the seal. Open the front suction line nut (1) connected to the A/C compressor (3) and remove it and unplug the line, also removing the O-rings and capping off the open ends of the line and the accumulator and compressor ports with plugs or tape. To install the A/C, connect the front section of the suction line (2) in the engine compartment, remove all tape or plugs from the refrigerant line fittings and the accumulator and compressor ports and apply refrigerant oil to new O-ring seals before fit them over the fittings on the refrigeration line. Join the front end of the A/C suction line to the compressor (3) and then fix the compressor in place using the retaining nut (1) to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.). Match the front section of the A/C suction line (11) with the A/C accumulator (10) and tighten the retaining nut (1) to 12 N.m (110 in. lbs.). If your front section is the only area you're focusing on, proceed to the following step. Take away the tape and plugs from the opened refrigerant fittings and the accumulator and evaporator ports, grease the new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and set them on the refrigerant line fittings. Attach the rear of the A/C suction line (9) to the accumulator and fit the retaining nut, tightening it to 12 N.m (110 in. lbs.). On LHD versions, clamp the spring-lock coupler over the end of the A/C suction line and then install the secondary retaining clip (4) at the evaporator outlet tube (6). On RHD models, join the rear end of the A/C suction line to the A/C evaporator, secure it with a retaining nut and tighten the nut to 12 N.m (110 in. lbs.). Place the two nuts (7) on the accumulator bracket (5), screwing them until they reach 4.5 N.m (40 in. lbs.) and connect the wire lead and connector (3) to the A/C low pressure switch (2). Also, rejoin the negative battery cable (16), empty the refrigerant from the system and top up the system with refrigerant.
