2007 Jeep Liberty A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair an A/C Hose for a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before working on the HVAC hose/line, test the engine's refrigerant oil and gradually add to prevent possible compressor damage. When changing several A/C components, always look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to ensure you are using the right amount of oil. Don't forget to change the O-ring seals on a refrigerant line every time you open it to prevent leaks. First, put the front section of the A/C suction line into the engine compartment and get rid of any tape or plugs on the refrigerant line fittings, accumulator and compressor ports. Coat the new rubber O-ring seals with clean R-134a oil and clamp them over the fittings, ensuring you use the proper O-ring seals made for the system and the suggested oil. Join the front suction tubing of the A/C system to the compressor, add the retaining nut and tighten it to a torque of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After that, link the front working part to the A/C accumulator and secure it by tightening the nut to 12 Nm (110 inches-pound). Only service the front section if you wish; if not, keep reading. After opening all refrigerant line fittings, the accumulator and evaporator ports, take off the tape or plugs, oil the O-rings and put them in place. Put the end of the A/C suction line in the accumulator, loosen the retaining nut, then screw it back on using a 12 Nm (110 in. lbs.) torque. Place the spring-lock coupler at the outlet tube of the evaporator on LHD models and put in the secondary retaining clip. On a RHD vehicle, join the rear section to the A/C evaporator and tighten the retaining nut to 12 Nm (110 in. lbs.). Attach the accumulator bracket to the dash panel with two nuts that you secure with 4.5 Nm of torque, then attach the wire lead to the A/C low pressure switch. Connect the negative battery cable back, remove all refrigerant, regulate the level of refrigerant oil and add refrigerant.
