2006 Jeep Liberty Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Heater Core on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: To work on the heater core, first uninstall the HVAC housing and put it on a workbench so you can access the area properly. If the rubber covering around the heater core tubes has become distorted or damaged, it has to be changed. After that, if the vehicle has them, take out the two screws 2 and 5 that hold the heater core 1 into the top of the HVAC housing 4. A deformed or damaged foam insulator should be replaced if it surrounds the heater core. Take the four retaining tabs out of locations 3 and 6 to release the heater core from the HVAC housing and carefully unfasten the heater core. Install the foam inside the HVAC, then very gently fit heater core 1 into the housing's section at the top. Secure the heater core to the HVAC housing by installing the four retaining tabs 3 and 6. If both are present, put in screws 2 and 5 to secure the heater core to the HVAC housing, tightening each to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Before you put in the HVAC housing, flush the cooling system if replacing the heater core.
