2008 Dodge Nitro A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service an A/C Accumulator for Optimal Performance on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: Adjusting the refrigerant oil level is very important in servicing the A/C system to stop the compressor from operating improperly or getting damaged. A bad A/C compressor should be replaced and the A/C accumulator must too, to preserve the car's other cooling elements. Should you need to change the A/C accumulator unit alone, then inform your mobile provider that you'll add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of oil that matches the refrigerant. Each time you open a refrigerant line for servicing, always change the O-ring seals and gaskets to keep it from leaking. The first step is to get rid of any plugs or tape covering the A/C accumulator fittings and condenser ports. Wet new O-ring seals with clean R-134a refrigerant oil and mount them onto the A/C accumulator fittings, using the suggested O-rings for this system. Hook the A/C accumulator (1) to the left side of the A/C condenser (2), add the bolt (3) and tighten it by 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Fit the air seal to the left of the cooling module and next secure the grille in place. Reattach the negative battery cable and drain the fluid from inside the AC system. If you change the A/C accumulator, add 30 milliliters (1.0 fluid ounce) of oil to the system and if you replace more than one A/C component, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for the needed volume. Charge the refrigerating system in the last step.
