2009 Dodge Viper A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service an A/C Accumulator for Optimal Performance on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: So that the A/C compressor is not damaged or doesn't operate incorrectly, the refrigerant oil level should be correct each time the A/C refrigerant system is serviced. Should the A/C compressor fail, the A/C accumulator has to be changed to prevent more damage. When you are replacing several parts in your A/C system, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to see how much oil to add. Adding 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended oil is necessary only if you are replacing only the A/C accumulator. Every time you disconnect a refrigerant line, be sure to change both seals on each end of it to keep leaks from happening. First, put in the A/C low pressure switch onto the A/C accumulator using a new seal and make sure it is tightly held in place. Set the A/C accumulator over the corresponding studs on the right inner front fender and tighten the two nuts to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). Remove or unplug the suction line fittings and accumulator ports from the tape, make new rubber O-rings greasy with clean R-134a oil and attach them to the fittings. Link the two sides of the A/C suction line to the A/C accumulator and secure the attached with bolts that are tightened to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Attach the wire harness to the A/C low pressure switch, place the right inner fender splash shield and right front wheel and only then lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative battery cable. Empty the refrigerant system and if the A/C accumulator is newly installed, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil or look at the chart included for more component replacements. After that, fill the refrigerant into the system.
