2009 Dodge Viper A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an A/C Hose on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: Before working on the suction line, take apart the negative battery cable, detach all components connected to the A/C system and extract the refrigerant from the air conditioner. In the A/C system, the suction line starts from the front end of the accumulator and ends at the rear end of the accumulator after passing through the evaporator; this last length includes the low side service port. To remove the front section, take out the bolt holding the A/C suction line to the right inner front fender and then remove the other bolt from the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor. Take the suction line off the A/C compressor and discard the seal. Get the car in the air, remove the right front tire, the right side inner splash shield and then loosen and remove the bolts holding the suction line brackets to the engine. After that, take out the bolt that holds the front end of the A/C suction line to the A/C accumulator, separate the suction line and throw away the O-ring seal. Take out the section of suction tubing that leads to the engine compartment and cover the ends both of the suction line and the compressor and accumulator ports with tape or plugs. Turn off the positive cable of the negative battery and remove it away from the system. Pull the fitting nut away from the A/C suction line to the A/C evaporator. Then, disconnect the suction line from the evaporator, but do not keep the O-ring. Hold and support the vehicle, remove the right front wheel and the inner fender splash shield and unseat the bolt attaching the A/C suction line to the A/C accumulator. Unhook the A/C suction line from the A/C accumulator and dump the small O-ring seal. Afterward, put plugs or tape on the opened suction line fittings, as well as the accumulator and evaporator ports and take the back part of the A/C suction line out of the engine space.
