Before servicing the blower motor resistor, people with air bag vehicles should turn off the air bag system by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable for no less than two minutes until the air bag system capacitor discharges. Let the blower motor resistor sit for five minutes after it has been used, because it may get very hot when turned on. Take care not to operate the blower motor if the resistor is removed, to protect your vehicle. First, unplug the negative battery cable and afterward remove the glove box from its mounting on the instrument panel. Release the tab that holds the connector and pull it out from the blower motor resistor. Take out the two screws fixing the resistor in the HVAC housing and remove the part. Put the blower motor resistor into the HVAC housing and lock it with the two screws, tightening them to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
