Don't strike the power steering pump pulley onto the shaft while installing, as it could ruin the parts. After that, place Installation Spacer 1, Special Tool 6936, on the pump pulley. When installing later build pumps, first put a stack of washers that is about 13 mm (0.5 in.) thick, part number 3, over Spacer 6936 and then secure Installer C-4063C to the pump. To know whether a stack of washers is needed, measure how deep the shaft hole is. This will tell you the size you should use which is 20 mm (0.78 in.) for later builds and 32 mm (1.25 in.) for earlier ones. Once the washers are in place if you need them, insert Installer 1, Special Tool C-4063C, into the power steering pump shaft and then rotate the Installer Nut downwards against the washers and Spacer 2 on the pump pulley. While turning the Installer Nut, keep the special tools and pulley straight on the pump shaft and halt once the nut is no longer able to rotate which means Spacer 2 is touching the end of the shaft. Last, take out the special tools from the power steering pump and place the pump on the engine.
