Before servicing or repairing the condenser fan, separate the battery's negative terminal, then retrieve the refrigerant from the system. Release the screw joining the discharge line fitting to the condenser and pull the discharge line out of the condenser, getting rid of the seal from the fitting. Place plugs or tape in the outlet from the discharge line fitting and the condenser inlet, then uncover the outlet from the condenser with its hexagonal cover. After that, loosen the nut that holds the liquid line fitting onto the condenser outlet and separate the liquid line, throwing away the seal on the fitting. As before, use plugs or tape on the liquid line fitting and the condenser inlet port. Release the wire harness connector from the condenser cooling fan motor and remove the bolts that hold the condenser to the front upper crossmember to remove the condenser/cooling fan assembly. Set the unit on a level surface, take out the four bolts joining the cooling fan to the condenser and remove the cooling fan. From below, position the cooling fan onto the A/C condenser and tighten each screw to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Move the condenser/cooling fan assembly into the engine compartment and match the lower tabs to the flanges, also joining the assembly to the upper front crossmember with the two bolts at 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs.) tightness. Attach the wire harness connector to the condenser cooling fan, then clear the tapes or plugs that are closed over the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet on the air condenser. Apply clean R-134a refrigerant oil to the new rubber O-ring seal and put it on the fitting in the liquid line using the same O-ring and refrigerant oil suggested in the A/C compressor instructions. Install the liquid line on the condenser outlet, screw the fitting nut all the way until it reaches 20 Nm (180 in. lbs.) and secure it. Cover the condenser outlet stud with the plastic strip, then free the tape or plugs blocking the suction line fitting and condenser inlet port. Now, apply clean refrigerant oil on a fresh rubber O-ring seal and insert the seal over the suction line fitting, being sure to use only the suggested O-ring and refrigerant. Connect the end of the suction line to the condenser inlet, then tighten the nut on it to 20 Nm (180 in. lbs.). Reconnect the negative battery terminal last, empty the fridge of all remaining refrigerant and add the right amount of refrigerant.
