Before you do anything else, make sure to first get rid of both the transmission and the transfer case when equipped. Remove spring clip 6, clear release bearing 4 from release lever 3 and take it out. If the slide surface on the front bearing retainer is cracked, worn or scored, change the retainer. Turn over the motorcycle and look at release lever 2 to make sure it's not distorted or worn and see if pivot stud 1 is secure and in good condition; if fork spring clips are bent or damaged, replace them. Coat the input shaft splines, bearing retainer slide, pivot stud 1 and release lever pivot surface with Mopar high temperature bearing grease. Set the release fork and bearing in place, using spring clips to secure it and make sure the release lever is inserted, with the raised area of its rear side facing the slave cylinder side of the transmission. After that, fit the transmission and transfer case back onto the car.
